For Parents

The NKI Rockland Sample Initiative offers families a free screening for mental health problems and a feedback session with a licensed psychologist once a child completes research visits.

The written and verbal reports of their children’s results include feedback about general health, mood, behavior, and cognitive functioning. Parents can share these reports with their healthcare provider if they wish. We also offer assistance in locating community services for issues addressed in the evaluation if requested by parents.

Children over the age of 6 are invited to participate in the Discovery Science Study and the Child Longitudinal Study. Parents tell us that their children’s experience participating in the Initiative has not only been fun and interesting, but shown them up close how science and scientists work.
